Canary Foundation is pledging $15 million toward the center, doubling its earlier commitment to support early detectionn research atthe university. The medical school, together with the school' Department of Radiology, is committing $5 million through facult recruitments, research facilities, and other infrastructure. The centetr will be led by Dr. Sanjiv Sam Gambhirf and will include new facultyg hires in both ex vivo and in vivo The center is located in a newluy renovated School of Medicinwe building on California Avenue in Palo Alto and it will have strony ties to the NationalCancer Institute-designated Stanford Cancer Cente with a view towards translating the early detection researcyh into clinical practice.
Canary Foundation is a non-profi t dedicated to the goal of identifyint cancer early through a simple blood test and then isolating it with Since 2004, Canary has raised over $30 milliohn to support early detection research.
